This section allows you to easily replace audio clips placed in your timeline for other ones with similar or with different characteristics. A.D.D provides you with different ways to define the sound replacing. There is also a keywords and an ADD pull down which shows all the keywords remaining in any given selection. You can use these pull downs to help give you ideas for search terms that describe the type of sound you’re looking for.  The libraries pull down allows you to focus your search so you are only searching in the selected libraries. You can replace one region or select multiple regions by clicking in the timeline background and drag the pointer over the regions.



Replace Footsteps surfaces or shoes: There will be times when you add sneakers footsteps in a concrete and then you realized they should have been heel footsteps. For those cases this command comes very handy. 

  1.  Select an audio clip or clips
  2. Go to the Replace tab
  3. In the search browser, type “ Footsteps, concrete, heels”
  4. All the results will be displayed.
  5. Audition the footsteps to chose the ones you like
  6. Select the regions in the timeline
  7. Select the footstep/s from the result list.
  8. Right click it with the mouse and select “Send to Timeline” or press Shift + Return.
  9. All the footsteps will be replaced.


Make sure that “Auto play on selection” from the Preferences window is not checked.

Replace by parameters:

  1. Select an audio clip/s..
  2. Adjust the randomness, intensity and complexity to defined the sounds you want to find.
  3. Press Command + R

                

Replace by Genre or feels:

  1.  Select an audio clip/s
  2.  Select from the genre or feels list a box that gets closer to the sound you want to find.
  3. Press Command + R


Replace by using the search browser:

  1.  Select an audio clip/s
  2.  Type a characteristic keyword you would like to find, for example: Hit, metallic
  3. Press Command + R


It is important to click on the “Reset” button when you finish replacing to avoid the error message when replacing other audio clips.

8.1 Replacement History


If you want to go back to a sound you liked earlier, right-click on the audio clip and select “Replace History” and all the previous sounds will be displayed in a list.



Audio Design Desk also allow you to save your pool of results as a playlist. The “Save as Playlist button” is located at the bottom of the Replace window.
